This population is made up of 48.25% white, 31.83% black, 9.37% Asian, 7.45%mixed and 3.1'% other. Moss side is very close to some of the major amenities in Manchester. Old Trafford football stadium and Cricket ground is only about 1-2 miles away from Moss side. There is a brewery on the corner of Moss Lane East and Princess Road. The area is home to Alexandra Park, the biggest park in the community where the yearly carnival is held. The area is well known for its Caribbean shops, carnival, hair salons and barber shops. Some of these facilities are regularly used by famous people. Previously the area had a bad reputation due to its crime rate and was socially excluded. However, thanks to recent regeneration and the reduction in crime rate in the area it is now proving to be a popular place to live and visit. Description by Sherine Campbell
