Midhurst Tourist Information |
|
Midhurst has its origins in the middle ages. The buildings round the Market Square are particularly attractive and include Elizabeth House, a rare example of a four-story timber-framed house. The romantic ruins of Cowdray House, probably once the most magnificent Tudor house in Sussex, where Elizabeth I was entertained is open to the public. The Cowdray Park Polo Club, is a highly popular and inexpensive family day out. The Midhurst area was used as a setting for science fiction novels, by both H.G. Wells and John Wyndham.
