Church Laneham is a very busy seasonal village with 2 caravan sites, a pub and the Parish church. It was an estate village of the Bishop of York, and the location of a ferry crossing of the river, commemorated by the name of the public house The Ferry Boat Inn. The riverside amenity area is popular with fishermen and water-skiers and the two caravan sites have been established since the 1950's, Manor farm is predominantly a static site whereas Trentfield farm is a touring and camping site. The ferry boat inn is a Scottish and Newcastle tenanted public house serving a selection of food and drinks. Description by John Hardman
