Kirkby on Bain Tourist Information |
|
Kirkby on Bain is a small Lincolnshire village with a lot to offer. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, open fields on one side and ancient virgin forest on the other. The river Bain runs through the village, offering a pleasant stroll along the banks, past the village church and school and leading to a splendid old fashioned country inn. The Ebrington Arms, a family run establishment, serves wonderful homecooked food alongside a great selection of real ales. The garden has plenty to keep children amused (spot the two pygmy goats high up on their arial platform). There is a camping and caravan club campsite plus many other small certified sites dotted around the village. One such site is next door to the pub at the fishery, very popular, having peaceful and well stocked fishing lakes. The Biannual village festival is an event worth attention. Terrier racing, duck racing, scarecrow contest and beer festival, with hog roast and a disco at the pub making this a popular event with locals and tourists alike. This usually takes place in July. Nearby, Woodhall Spa, is a very popular toursit destination and offers country style shopping, kinema in the woods, ethnic retaurants, museum and national golf centre. Conningsby in the other direction is the place to go to for plane spotters and RAF enthusiasts. Pay us a visit soon!! Description by Cathy Moncrieff
