Ireshopeburn is the base of the Y.M.C.A. Outdoor Centre. Also home to the Weardale Museum which exhibits some of the history of the Dale. Tow Law is one of the highest villages in England and has a long industrial history as a site for smelting and finishing iron. The church of St. Philip and St. James contains an elaborate and unusual Rood Screen.
