Gainsborough Tourist Information

Gainsborough is a developing market town and Britain's most inland port. The splendid parish church of All Saints, is Lincolnshire's only example of a grand Georgian classical city church.

Gainsborough Old Hall - is an immaculately preserved Manor House , built around 1460, the Hall is principally a timber framed building with a brick tower on one corner. The magnificent Great Hall where Richard III and Henry VIII once dined and the Medieval kitchens remain virtually unchanged since their visits. Authentic replicas help to recreate an historic atmosphere. The Old Hall also has strong links with the Mayflower Pilgrims, who worshipped here secretly before their eventual escape to America.

At the Gainsborough Heritage Centre and the Dambusters Heritage Centre you can see World war I and II exhibits, including local memorabilia and archive material on the Dambusters raid, which flew from nearby RAF Scampton.

Gainsborough's Leisure Centre is modern and comprehensive featuring swimming pools, squash courts, fitness club, holiday play schemes and large soft play area, sauna, steam room and sunbeds.
