Emsworth Tourist Information

Emsworth is a picturesque little fishing village with narrow streets, Georgian houses, high walled gardens and swans on the mill pond. Oyster fishing and boat building were the main industries during the 19th century and these two still remain today.

Emsworth was the home of PG Wodehouse, who used many of the local place names for the characters in his novels; you can visit Emsworth Museum in North Street, to find out about the literary connections with the Wodehouse novels.

Fishing vessels are still a familiar sight in Emsworth quay and enhance the nautical atmosphere, With an excellent selection of specialist shops, a delightful array of eating outlets and traditional way of life Emsworth is a real treat.
