East Kilbride is well known for being a shopping mecca of central Scotland. Rightly so, as almost anything can be found in the Central shopping centre, for those seeking to get a morning pint of milk to those seasoned shopping pros looking for the latest designer fashion garment. It even houses an ice rink and cinema.

Many of the well known high street stores are to be found there, so there is something for everyone and a good selection of restaurants and cafes.

There are a number of outdoor activities; Calderglen country park is a great place for all the family with nature trails, a castle, a zoo and an indoor exotic insect conservatory. Stewartfield Loch has a number of water sports, with qualified instructors to help you along if you fancy getting a bit wet; there are 3 golf courses for those of the competitive type.

To get a taste of what East Kilbride was like before it became the very large business town that it is today, visit the old village, with its old cobbled streets, which is now home to a host of independent boutiques and eateries.

Nightlife is very limited, however you are but a stones throw from Glasgow, where the night life thrives 7 nights a week. Give East Kilbride a try, you won't be disappointed.
