Croydon Tourist Information |
|
Croydon at first glace may appear as a soulless concrete jungle, but under this visage is a hidden gem in south London. Visitors will find Croydon a great place to visit day or night. During the day visitors can visit the beautiful Queen's gardens, which is located in the grounds of the Old Croydon Central railway station. From here it is a short walk to Croydon Town Hall with its magnificent clock tower and World War memorial. Also a visit to the nearby Parish church and Croydon Palace. After this why not take a break and have a bite to eat in one of Croydon's many Restaurants and pubs, which serve food all day. After this visitors may like to take a tram ride to Addington Palace to see this grand building, which once was residence for six archbishops of Canterbury. A short bus ride from Croydon Town center is the Old Croydon Airport Building, which at one time was the gateway between London and the World. Another place worth visiting is the ruins of the Crystal Palace, which sadly was destroyed by fire in 1936. Croydon is home to a great shopping area, which any shopaholic can lose themselves in for hours and find loads of shops. If you're a sports fan why not take in a game Of football at Croydon resident football club, Crystal Palace. For a night time visit to Croydon, visitors will find the town center a busy place, so why not take in some of the town pubs and bars, with loads of live music going on. There is the Fairfield Halls and the Warehouse Theater where you can take in a play or a live show. If you're looking for a meal or just a bite to eat, then Croydon's south end is for you. With restaurants serving cuisine from all round the world you will be spoilt for choice. Hopefully you will enjoy your visit to Croydon. Description by Jayson
