Corton Tourist Information |
|
Corton lies on the northern outskirts of Lowestoft, close to the villages of Gunton and Hopton-on-Sea. It is not overcrowded with permanent residences but the population increases during the summer months in particular when the holiday resorts and caravan sites which are sitated on the cliffs are busy with visitors, albeit one well known resort is open all year. Corton has a Methodist Church in the village but St. Batholomews Church with its 15th century tower is more remote being situated on the back road towards Hopton. The Public Houses in the village both serve food and hold various functions. Beside the lure of the uncrowded beach there is the well known 'Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park'. Many places for activities, sightseeing and entertainment are within easy reach by private or public transport, for example- Lowestoft with its Historic High Street, not forgetting the famous 'Scores', Nicholas Everitt Park at Oulton Broad which houses the Lowestoft Museum, or the pretty seaside town of Gorleston which has an 18 hole golf course. Always something to do and somewhere to go for all age groups. Description by Peggy Cannell
