Castle Cary Tourist Information |
|
Castle Cary is a vibrant market town, with a winding main street, many of the buildings are of the local golden stone and some are still thatched. The museum in the Market House has a display on diarist Parson Woodforde who lived at neighbouring Ansford. His 'Diary of a Country Parson' is a classic of country life in the 18th century. Bailey Hill is the site of the 18th century 'pepper pot' lock up, one of only four in the country. Visit John Boyd Textiles to see horsehair being woven. Nearby attractions include Hadspen House gardens, Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford and pay and play golf course at Wheathill.
