Acton Scott Tourist Information |
|
Acton Scott is an ancient village below the slopes of Ragleth Hill, and the home of the Scott family for centuries. Its population is now very small. The church, the Hall and other buildings are made of local limestone, a rock that is rare in Shropshire and forms a plateau in the Apedale valley. The church of St. Margaret has a medieval chancel, nave, and tower, and other features such as the south nave window, lights in the tower and some bench ends may be late medieval. The village is home to the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm. Description by Jeffrey Darlington
