Uttoxeter - The visitor will find a friendly market town of great attraction. Colourful outdoor markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Uttoxeter is nationally known for its popular National Hunt Racecourse where twenty one meetings are held each year including the Midlands Grand National every Visit the Uttoxeter Heritage Centre in Carter Street. A restored 17th century timber framed building housing displays of local history. Three miles north west of Uttoxeter you can still see the remains of Croxden Abbey, founded in 1176 by Bertram de Verdun for monks of the Cistercian Order.
