Set in a picturesque part of Devon, the area is perfect for a peaceful self catering holiday in rural Devon and a good position for exploring the local countryside / woodlands of Cornwall and Devon.
The Cornish coast is only a short drive. Dartmoor, Exmoor and the heart of Devon within easy reach. The local area is ideal for walking and there are numerous course fishing facilities in close proximity, as well as several golf courses.
The Ruby Country is an ideal area to walk in, with numerous footpaths through woodlands and forests. Cycling is also popular as the Camel Trail extends through many miles in Devon and Cornwall.
The cottage is situated on the fringes of the village of Halwill Junction, which offers a good range of amenities and day-to-day services including post office, general store and newsagents, hairdressers, post office, fish and chip shop, public house (restaurant and bar meals), recreation ground and community hall just a short stroll away.
The former railway track owned by the Devon Wildlife Trust, makes a pleasant walk through the nature trail and is close by.
Halwill Junction is approximately a 10 minutes drive from the old market town of Holsworthy and approximately 12 miles from Okehampton, with Bude and its sandy beaches only a 15 mile drive.
Bus services are available to the larger towns of Okehampton and Holsworthy. There is also a regular bus service which runs between Bude and Exeter. The A30 dual carriageway can be accessed at Okehampton and provides good road communications west into Cornwall or east to the cathedral city Exeter with its motorway, rail and air links.
