Scotch Corner - Haydon Bridge
Scotch Arms is a delightful 19th Century converted Coaching Inn situated right on the river South Tyne, next to the original Haydon Bridge.

Scotch Corner is one of three conversions, which has been tastefully re-furbished to provide an enjoyable and restful retreat.

The décor and furnishings have been selected to ensure that each room is practical, functional and well co-ordinated.

The property is double-glazed, centrally heated and carpeted throughout, to create a cosy and relaxing atmosphere.

The king size double bedroom has en-suite facilities with extra large cubicle and power shower.

Extras such as books, games and tourist information are provided. Also included is a welcome pack, which ensures that at least a hot drink and a biscuit is readily available on arrival.

Scotch Corner is set high above the river and all rooms have terrific views of the South Tyne River, the Haydon Bridge and surrounding countryside. There is off-road parking for up to two cars and a secure lock-up for bicycles etc. is provided on request.

The heart of Haydon Bridge is the river, which flows through the centre of the village and has salmon and trout for which the Northumberland Rivers are well known.

The village has one Pub, a working mens club, one small hotel, restaurant and an excellent restaurant-pub, which always has a real ale on tap.

A superb fish and chip shop and an Indian take-away are just across the road. A well-stocked Co-op is on the other side of the bridge and within 2-3 minutes walk are a good butcher, chemist, bank with ATM, three churches and a newsagent. The village also has a library and a hairdresser.

Haydon Bridge is served by the Newcastle-Carlisle express bus service, as well as the train plying between these two great but different towns. The trains stop at the famed Metro Centre as well as Corbridge Station, home of a first class Indian Restaurant.

Served by bus and train, East-West by the A69, North-South by the A68 just 8 miles (13km) away, Haydon Bridge could not be easier to find or get to.

Seven miles (10km) to the East is the attractive market town of Hexham, which boasts antique shops, craft shops, bookshops, teashops and restaurants and stylish clothes shops as well as the Robbs department store and a good sized Marks and Spencers.

Hexham is also lucky to have the wonderful Queen's Hall, which incorporates a tearoom-restaurant, a library, art gallery and a theatre.
Corbridge is 4 miles (7km) further on, the home of the Corbridge Larder and more local shops.

Haydon Bridge is a perfect base for exploring the myriad of attractions this unspoiled area of Northumbria has to offer.

Hadrian's Wall is just 4 miles (6km) to the North and Alston, the highest market town in England; about 40 minutes drive to the South. Within 1-2 hours drive are the Yorkshire Moors, York, Lake District, Kielder Water, the Scottish Borders and Northumberland Coast.
