Fell View was once an old workshop, converted to a home by John Holmes, the Grandfather of the founder of The Good Life Cottage company. Built out of the Valley bedrock and occupying a raised position overlooking the main village street, Fell view is one of the first properties seen as you enter Elterwater.

A great house for get-togethers, having a large lounge/dining room and long oak dining table, used for many a family Christmas. The kitchen is well appointed with with everyday life revolving round a large kitchen table. One of the highlights of this house is the garden that offers great views into the village and the surrounding fells. A great place to sit and watch the world pass by.

Entry into Fell View is up a set of slate steps, through the door into a small landing with hooks for wet coats etc.

To the front as you enter is a spacious double bedroom with king size bed and en-suite shower room. Turning left through the front door brings you into the kitchen/breakfast room, with modern fully fitted kitchen, dining table and stove effect electric fire.

From the back of the kitchen, a door leads to the second double bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower room.

From the kitchen you go down a step into the Lounge/dining room, with plenty of space for six to relax after a hard day walking.

From the small landing, stairs lead down to the twin bedded room with en-suite bathroom; French doors lead out into the garden and patio from this bedroom. The garden can also be accessed from outside, should whoever is in the twin room need a sleep in.

Directions

Travelling by public transport
Oxenholme station in Kendal is on the main London to Glasgow train line. Links from here take you to Windermere train station. From Windermere there are buses to Ambleside and then a bus from there to Elterwater, or alternatively you can get a taxi from Windermere train station.

Travelling by car
From the South
Leave the M6, at J36 following the A590 (A591) towards Kendal and Windermere. Stay on the A591 all the way to Ambleside.

On the outskirts of Ambleside, turn left at the first set of lights (this area is known as Waterhead). Continue for approx 1/2 mile, and turn left just after the rugby club, signposted to Langdale and Coniston A593. *Continue on the A593 for approx 2 1/2 miles to Skelwith Bridge, where the road forks at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel, turn right onto the B5343. Continue for approx 2 miles, over the cattle grid and down the hillside ignoring the first turning on your left into Elterwater and taking the second turning to the Left (at the crossroads). The Good Life Cottage Co is the first building you come to on the right hand side.
From the North
Leave the M6 at J40 following the A66 for approx 12 1/2 miles to the St John's in the Vale turn off onto the B5322. Follow the B53422 for approx 4 miles until you come to the A591, turn left onto the A591 and continue for 7 miles. Turn right into Grasmere on the B5287 for just over 1/2 mile. As you come into Grasmere village, take the road that runs to the right hand side of the Red Lion Hotel, turn right again onto the Red Bank road. Continue on here for approx 0.6 mile then take the right hand turn up the hill and continue for a further 0.4 miles. As you come down the hill take the sharp left hand turn, almost going back on itself. At the bottom of this road you come to a crossroads, go straight over, The Good Life Cottage Co is the first building on the right hand side.

For a less daring journey, take the A591 all the way to Ambleside and follow the road through Ambleside, turning a sharp right at Hills BP Garage onto Wansfell Road, following signs for Coniston and Langdale. Turn left at the end of here and then the next right onto the A593* (See above)
