Cuckoo Cottage is 4 miles from Eastbourne, which has a beautiful seafront and award winning (Blue Flag) beaches and many attractions for all the family to enjoy.
A short distance away is Hastings and the medieval town of Rye, with its charming blend of antiques shops and art galleries. Nearby is Camber Sands; this stunning stretch of sandy beach is the perfect get-away, with miles of unspoilt coast and the only sand dune system in East Sussex.
The South Downs is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; there are trails for you to walk or cycle and for the more adventurous some great outdoor pursuits such as horse riding, ballooning, golf, hang gliding and paragliding.
Just up the road is the Cuckoo trail (after which the cottage takes its name). The picturesque trail follows the former 'Cuckoo Line' railway track and stretches from Heathfield to Eastbourne Park. It passes through Horam, Hailsham and Polegate. This famous trail is a 13 mile (21km) surfaced path through the Sussex countryside, mostly traffic free and is a safe route for walkers and cyclists of all ages.
This unspoilt coastline of Pevensey has played a vital role in the history of England. It has been on the frontline during Roman and Norman times and was central to the defence of the country from the Spanish Armada, Napoleon and Hitler. Today, Pevensey is one the South Coast's leading locations for windsurfing and water sports and is within easy driving distance of Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne.
