Halfpenny Cottage lies on the edge of the village of Backbarrow and within the Lake District National Park, about a mile from Newby Bridge and the foot of Lake Windermere.

The self-catering Cottage lies within a little row of four traditional white painted cottages and is about 150 years old. It crests the hill with fabulous views of the Leven Valley and River Leven, and towards Haverthwaite Heights and the popular Steam Railway below.

The cottage sleeps 4 or 5 (plus travel cot if required) and was completely refurbished in 2005 to a high standard whilst maintaining its character and charm. You'll feel completely at home and able to relax in style and comfort. This is a perfect cottage holiday for a family or as a romantic break for two.

Living room has multi fuel burner and quality furnishings, including Laura Ashley sofas. Flat screen TV with Free Sat, DVD/CD player. Cooking is by Aga. There is a fridge and freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Microwave, kettle and toaster.

The spacious dining area comfortably seats five. We can supply a high chair, at your request.

The master bedroom is relaxing and spacious, with exposed beams, vaulted ceiling and Juliet balcony. King-sized, Silentnight divan.

The twin bedroom has 3 ft divan beds, one divan is suitable for asthma sufferers. One of the beds is a guest bed and therefore the room can sleep a snug 3!

Bathroom has large bath, centre taps for comfort. Separate shower cubicle.
