The pretty village of Christow, in the Dartmoor National Park, is in the unspoilt and largely, undiscovered Teign Valley. It has two shops, a post office and the 12th century thatched village inn, just a stones throw from the cottage. The cottage is well situated for exploring the area and the high moor and coast are within easy reach.
Guiding you around the cottage, a welcoming inner hall leads to a low door, through which is the cosy lounge. In an exposed stone wall, there is an fireplace with a wood burning stove, and a French door opens onto the secluded terrace.
On the other side of the house is a large dining room/kitchen which also has a wood-burner. The side door from the kitchen also opens onto the terrace. An old, rather steep wooden staircase leads up to the first floor.
Before you reach the top of the stairs, a step off to the right takes you into a twin bedroom. Upstairs the main double bedroom has a comfortable king size bed. From the landing and down another step are doors to the bathroom and another twin bedroom.
Facilities
It can be very peaceful at Strattons, but don't be surprised to see a tractor going past or a horse walking by.

Take the A38 at the end of the M5 towards Plymouth, and turn off at the B3193, signposted to Teign Valley and Chudleigh Knighton which is the next exit after the exit to Chudleigh. As you come off at this exit, turn right over the A38 then 1st right onto the B3193. It takes about 10 minutes from here to the cottage. Turn left into the Christow turning and follow the road up and into the village, passing the church on your right and the post office on your left. The road narrows as you pass the Artichoke pub on your left, and Strattons is around the bend, at the end of the row of cottages on your right. |
