Our cottage, which has been recently refurbished, sleeps 4 comfortably, is fully double glazed and centrally heated. All electricity and gas are included in the price together with bed linen and towels. A small welcome pack is included. There is a well equipped kitchen which is fitted with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine. TV in lounge and portable TV/DVD player in both bedrooms.
The cottage is situated in a mews off Broad Street in the heart of the town, literally a stones throw from the High Street with its small shops, restaurants and public houses. Being this close its hard to believe that it is so peaceful with no passing pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
Locally sourced meat and vegetables can be purchased in the High Street. On this note it is worth mentioning that the nearest large supermarket is 13 miles away and you will not find any out of town retail parks for at least 30 miles!.
Nearby is the Judges Lodgings which was originally the Shire Hall where the county assizes were held until 1971. Located in this building is the award winning museum and tourist information centre.
Walking for all abilities can be found locally. Presteigne is only a couple of miles off Offas Dyke, Radnor Forest is about 7-8 miles away, the Wye Valley 15 miles and the Elan Valley (spectacular scenery and dams that supply water to the Midlands).
Other local towns of interest are Ludlow 17 miles, Hereford 21 miles, Llanrindod Wells 20 miles, Knighton 7 miles and Rhayder 28 miles.
Activities that can be found nearby include pony trekking, fishing, bird watching, golf, go-karting, hangliding and flying at nearby Shobdon Airfield. Presteigne also has its own leisure centre with swimming pool.

The address is Nailmakers Cottage, 1 Craftmans Mews, Broad St, Presteigne, Powys, LD8 2AA. Its easy to find. Make your way to the town centre (the locals call it a town but is more like a village). In the centre of the town you will see a post office on the corner. Head downhill 50yds and you will see the Duke pub on your right. Directly opposite this is an archway that leads into Craftsmans Mews. Our cottage is on the left. Public transport is limited in the area. |
