Smithy House dates back to the 1700s and has retained much of its traditional charm and character. It is set in the old part of Stainton on the village green.

Smithy House has its own mature gardens and is ideal for those looking for a retreat away from the madding crowds but within easy reach of the many activities Cumbria has to offer.It is beautifully furnished and is a comfortable base to explore the Lake District.

The house is gas centrally heated and comprises, lounge with digital TV,DVD player.Hi-fi and unlimited wifi,, log burning stove, a bed settee for two extra guestsand a cot. Dining-kitchen with gas Esse range cooker, fridge-freezer and microwave. The utility room has washer-drier and dishwasher. Master double bedroom with King size oak bedroom and en-suite bathroom with cast iron slipper bath, hand basin and WC.

First floor has a twin bedroom with built in wardrobe. The double bedroom has a four poster mahogany bed and matching wardrobe, superb buit in shower and hand basin. The bathroom has a shower, hand basin and WC.

Stainton is ideally placed to enjoy the Northern Lake District and the Eden Valley being only 3.5 miles from Pooley Bridge and Lake Ullswater.

Penrith a market town is only 10 minutes away, here there are a variety of shops, restaurants, supermarkets, pubs and a large open air Saturday market. There are superb opportunities for mountain and road cycling. The owner has left a mountain bike in the shed for your use and suggests the ride to Mungrisedale, Pooley Bridge or off road along the old coach road to Keswick.

Walkers can attemp local walks, there is a lovely walk to the village of Dacre which has a pub. Serious walkers can attempt Blencathra and Helvelyn which are only a short car drive away.

Stainton has a village pub, hotel,post office,local farm shop and a church and the Rheged Discovery Centre is within walking ditance.

Standard Rates

From £370.00 - £790 for the week this includes heating, logs,linen, towels and a cleaner at the end of your stay.

Weekends are from £250. They can be either 2 or 3 nights.
Change over day can be either Friday or Saturday.

Directions

Exit the M6 at junction 40:
Join the A66 sign posted Keswick. At the roundabout turn left signposted for Dalemain which is immediately after the entrance to Rheged Visitor Centre. Continue for approximately quarter of a mile and turn right to Stainton. Proceed into the village, turn left at the cross roads, past the public house on the right and the Brantwood Hotel of the left. Upon approaching the village green bear right and the property is situated on the left just after the telephone kiosk.
