Access to the cottage is via a single track road leading off the B4404 between Cemmaes Road and Llanwrin. Look out for the signpost indicating Cwm Cerig and the Dovey Valley Shooting Ground.
Plough Cottage is part of the Daulwyn Estate at Brynmelin and has uninterrupted views of the valley and hills from the lounge patio window.
Plough Cottage is also on the Southern boundary of Snowdonia National Park with all that this area has to offer walkers, mountain bikers, climbers, bird watchers and other outdoor pursuit enthusiasts.

Hiking
For those looking for a hiking holiday, the area is home to miles of forest and coastal paths (some straight from Plough Cottage). For hill walkers and climbers, Cadair Idris is only a few miles away and Mount Snowdon is within driving distance.
Mountain Biking
Bike hire is available in Dolgellau, Barmouth and Machynlleth. Try the beautiful Mawdach Estuary trail from Dolgellau to Barmouth (all off-road and flat!). For the more serious, there are technical trails at the Mountain Bike Centre in Coed-y-Brennin Forest, north of Dolgellau.
Birdwatching
The Ynishir Bird Sanctuary and Wild Life Reserve between Machynlleth and Borth attracts many birdwatchers. Tregaron and Rayader boast red kite feeding centres. The remote, unspoilt hills are a haven for Birds of Prey and Bird Rock is a unique, inland site for nesting Cormorants.
Beaches
The nearest beach is at Aberdovey, 13 miles away. Other beaches can be found nearby at Borth, Fairborne and Barmouth and an award-winning beach at Tywyn, which is also home to the cleanest stretch of sea in Europe.
Golf
Championship golf courses are available in Machynlleth, Borth and Aberdovey.
Shooting
Clay Pigeon Shooting only half a mile away at the Dovey Valley Shooting Ground.
