Built around 1900, the cottage has been tastefully decorated and furnished to a very high standard, combining traditional charm with modern convenience. Its two comfortable bedrooms (one double, one that can be arranged as either a double or a twin room) have lovely outlooks: one overlooking the green, the other enjoying far-reaching views across Brading marshes to Culver Down. The prettily refurbished bathroom offers a bath with shower over.
The lounge, with its woodburning stove, provides a cosy refuge in the cooler months to watch TV, read a book or play boardgames.
The cottage has a fitted kitchen with all the modern conveniences you would expect, electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and washer/drier. You can take your meals at the breakfast bar overlooking the pretty rear garden or in the adjoining dining area, which has a dining table and four chairs.
Patio doors from the kitchen open out onto a decked area with garden furniture; an ideal place to sit and unwind after a long day's sightseeing, with a barbecue, perhaps, or just a glass of your favourite tipple.
St Helens makes an ideal holiday destination, whatever your interests. At its heart is that rare, but quintessentially English feature, the village green. The hub of the village, it provides the setting for activities as diverse as carnivals, cricket, football and fairs. Dotted around the green, are two shops, two restaurants and the village pub.
If you want to swim, build sandcastles or search rockpools for crabs, the beach at St Helens is just 15 minutes walk away. If your interest run more to messing about in boats, Bembridge Harbour home of Brading Haven and Bembridge sailing clubs is just a five minute stroll downhill. Whilst walkers and cyclists will find lots of lovely coastal and inland routes starting from the front door of the cottage.
