Its so so peaceful! There is an abundance of birds and wildlife to watch, red squirrels and woodpeckers are regular visitors to the garden along with the pheasants and numerous woodland birds.
From the cottage there is direct access onto Catbells. A beautiful stroll down through Manesty Woods to Brandelhow brings you down to the lake, from here you can take the ferry around the lake to Lodore or Keswick.
The Allerdale Ramble runs across the fell behind the cottage and takes you either to Grange or Portinscale. the situation is perfect for magnificent walks either around the lake, over Catbells to Newlands or down the Borrowdale Valley towards Honister Pass.
The cottage which sleeps up to six people in 3 bedrooms has recently been refurbished and offers the following accomodation: one double bedroom with direct access to the newly fitted family bathroom (bath and separate shower cubicle) along with a twin bedroom on the ground floor.
Upstairs there is another twin bedroom with a newly fully fitted en-suite shower room. There's also a large sitting room with lots of windows and doors onto the terrace offering fantastic views down the Borrowdale Valley. A well equipped kitchen with washer dryer, microwave and fridge feezer. All heating and electricity is included so no additional costs to worry about. Fellside Cottage is Non Smoking.
There is a large terrace and garden with table, chairs and a bar-be-que, the view from here is absolutely fantastic!
The picturesque village of Grange is about 1 mile away and Keswick approximately 5 miles, thats about a 15 minute drive around the lake. Boats can be launched onto the lake at Kettlewell or at the Marina in Portinscale.
The cottage is very spacious and easily accomodates a family or group of friends. Dogs are more than welcome at an additional charge of £20.00/week. There is also private parking.
Relax on the terrace and admire the view in tranquil settings or hike the fells, its all there right on the doorstep. Come and get away from it all, its a great spot!

Prices range from £325.00 per week during the low season to £475.00 in the Spring (apart from Easter and Bank Holidays). During High Season £700.00 per week. Short breaks available during the winter @ £150.00 for minimum of 2 nights. |

From the M6: Leave the motorway at junction 40, A66 Penrith. Follow the A66 west towards Workington and the west/north lakes, and proceed to Keswick. At Keswick, take the second exit. Turn left at the T junction, then right at the 1st mini roundabout. Follow the signs for the B5289 towards Borrowdale out of the town centre, going straight on at the next roundabout then right at the following roundabout. After about 4 miles, turn right over the bridge into Grange. Follow the road through the village and carry on passed the Borrowdale Gates Hotel on your right. Continue along this road, you will pass Manesty cottages on the left and then Low Manesty Caravan site on the right. Continue on up the hill passing a postbox in the wall on the right. Shortly afterwards on the left, you will see a wooden sign on a tree with the name "Scalethorns", "The Coppice", "High Ground" and "Fellside". Turn sharp left and back on yourself into the driveway and Fellside is at the very top over the second cattlegrid. The cottage can be seen on the right hand side, it is the one nearest the drive. Parking is on the gravelled area behind the cottages or in the parking area to the left of the driveway. Fellside Cottage also has a private parking space infront of the terrace. |
