The Estate comprises of attractive moor and woodland rich in bird, animal and plant life thus is a haven for bird watchers and nature lovers. There are many attractive walks on the moor and along the River Greta through a deciduous woodland ghyll.
The three cottages are furnished to a high standard and are all well equipped providing all the home comforts ideal for families and couples alike with ample parking and gardens.
North Cottage is laid out over two floors the twin aspect Sitting Room with countryside views, it is tastefully furnished with traditional open log fire (logs provided) and Freeview TV/DVD/Radio, the French windows open onto the garden and patio with quality patio furniture. The light spacious Dining Kitchen is fully fitted featuring a 6 seater dining table. Kitchen equipment includes fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave oven and dishwasher the utility houses the washer/dryer, iron and ironing board. The Bedrooms are elegantly furnished and have anti allergy duvet and pillows with luxury bed linen. There is a well equipped family bathroom and an ensuite bathroom.

There is a well equipped family bathroom and a shower room.
West Cottage is all ground floor accommodation the Lounge is comfortable and cosy with Freeview TV/DVD/Radio the French windows lead out to the patio with quality patio furniture over looking the surrounding countryside. The large twin aspect Dining Kitchen is fully fitted with fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave oven and washer/dryer. The Bedrooms are tastefully decorated and have anti allergy duvet and pillows with luxury bed linen. The Bathroom is well equipped with bath/shower, WC and heated towel rail.
Each cottage sleeps four people; we also provide a cot and high chair on request if you have a young baby. Luxury bed linen and towels are provided and electricity and fuel is included in your rental. You are welcome to bring one well behaved dog to East Cottage and up to two well behaved dogs to North Cottage by prior arrangement.
There are many nearby local attractions and activities with a good choice of pubs and restaurants in and around the local villages and Barnard Castle.

Low Season: £250.00 per week. Mid Season: £350.00 per week. High Season: £450.00 per week. For our first year at Thwaite Cottages we have slashed our weekly rates from £400.00 to £250.00 for the low season, from £450 to £350 for the mid season and £550 to £450 for the high season. |

From the M6 Southbound: From Scotland travelling south on the M6, exit at junction 40 onto the A66 east, signposted Scotch Corner. Travel 3 miles past Bowes turn right into Rutherford Lane (signposted Scargill). Follow the lane for 1.5 miles, where the road forks, take the left fork and you arrive at Thwaites Cottages on your right-hand side. From the M6 Northbound: Heading north on the M6 exit at Tebay junction number 38, taking the A685 Kirkby Stephen and Scotch Corner. Travel through Kirkby Stephen staying on the A685 until you reach Brough. Turn right onto the A66 following signs for Scotch Corner. Continue for 3 miles past Bowes then take the right-hand turning onto Rutherford Lane (signposted Scargill). Follow the lane for 1.5 miles, where the road forks, take the left fork and you arrive at Thwaites Cottages on your right-hand side. From the A1: From the A1 at Scotch Corner take the A66 west, following signs for Barnard Castle. When you pass through Rokeby continue on the A66 for 1.4 miles, then take the left-hand turning onto Rutherford Lane (signposted Scargill). Follow the lane for 1.5 miles, where the road forks, take the left fork and you arrive at Thwaites Cottages on your right-hand side. |
