Located in the Sussex Weald, nr Uckfield, The Granary is an extremely spacious 3 bedroom Self Catering holiday cottage for up to 5 guests. Approached from a quiet country lane the property offers comfortable accommodation in an elevated rural location with spectacular views across the Sussex Weald.

Ideally placed from which to explore much of Kent and Sussex and coastal towns of Eastbourne, Brighton, and Hastings. The Granary stands in the grounds of the owners' farm providing secure parking for up to 2 cars immediately adjacent to the property.

The property is surrounded by open farmland with a large private fenced garden and patio offering guests peace and tranquility and lovely views of the farm.

We fall within the officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and are located just outside the small village of High Hurstwood with highly recommended local Pub, The Hurstwood.

Nearby Uckfield is within a 10 mins drive, and has a good range of local shops including Tesco and Waitrose supermarkets, a Lesiure Centre with swimming pool, and a small cinema.

Granary Description: An oak door leads into a terracotta tiled entrance lobby with plenty of hanging space for coats.

The fully fitted farmhouse kitchen converted from an old stable has creme units, solid wooden worktops, tiled floor, table, dresser, Belfast sink, cooker, large fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher.

Off the kitchen is a separate dining room. On the ground floor there is also a single bedroom with wrought iron bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe with an adjacent Victorian-style bathroom.

Upstairs is fully carpeted throughout and is approached via an attractive staircase leading into a large well furnished lounge comprising comfortable settees, coffee tables, TV, DVD Player, Music Centre and well stocked bookshelf.

There are 2 large double bedrooms, one with a double bed with
en- suite shower facilities, although the Shower Room can be also accessed independently, and the other bedroom is a very large twin. Both have a wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table, full-length mirror and table lamps

There are endless walks available in every direction on the the many footpaths accessed within a few mins stroll of The Granary through woodland, open farm land, via lakes, streams and land dedicated for protected wildlife habitats, as well as in Buxted Park and itís herds of fallow deer. Ashdown Forest with itís Winnie the Pooh connections in Hartfield offers miles of hiking, horse riding and cycling.

Buxted in around 8 mins, has a main line Station offering hourly service into London in just over the hour, Course Fishing, Buxted Park and Hotel, The Oast Fruit Picking Farm, Fishing Lake, Farm Shop and Tea Room.

Local Attractions:
Famous Glyndebourne Opera House, renowned Charleston Farmhouse - home of the Bloomsbury Set with its quirky interior decoration by Vanessa Bell, sister of Virginia Woolf, nearby Middle Farm near Firle for free cidar tasting and farm activities for children as well as excellent farm shop. Superby walks on top of Firle Beacon.

A variety of National Trust & English Heritage attractions within easy access incl Batemans in Burwash home to Rudyard Kipling of Jungle Book fame, Sheffield Park Gardens, Scotney Castle, 1066 Battle Abbey, Blue Bell Railway, Standen, Knole Park, Penshurst Place, Groombridge Place, Chartwell home of Sir Winston Churchill, Nymans, Wakehurst with the Kew Seed Bank to name but a few. Drusillas Zoo and Adventure Park especially geared for younger children, and nearby Alfriston Village with it's cobble streets, quaint shops and numerous tea rooms.

The Granary while in a rural location, is nevertheless within very easy access of Royal Tunbridge Wells, Historical Lewes, Glyndebourne Opera House and the Coastal towns of Eastbourne and famous Brighton. While Battle 1066 Country, Hastings and Rye are about an hours drive as are the spectacular South Downs.

We have some very good pubs in the immediate area including our own village pub, The Hurstwood, Buxted Inn, Blackboys Inn, Wheelers at the Chequers Inn in Maersfield owned by famous Celebrity Chef Marco Pierre Whte, The Griffin at Fletching, The Lamb at Piltdown and the MiddleHouse in Mayfield to name but a few,

Regretably we are not suited for children under 5, and due to our own Livestock cannot accomodate Pets. We do not allow smoking in The Granary, and ask for guests to respect this in the interest of other guests.

Take A272 towards Heathfield/Buxted. Diagonally Opp Buxted Park Hotel entrance turn into Hurstwood Road for 1 mile. Right into Fowley Lane for approx 1 mile and Huggetts Farm is on the Right.
