Geranium Cottage is a tastefully furnished and very comfortable cottage situated in Lostwithiel in Mid-Cornwall, with a sheltered private walled courtyard garden. The cottage lies within the flat area of the town centre and close to the local butcher, dairy, and baker, all selling fresh home made products. The Co-op. supermarket is open 7 days a week until late, so no need to travel with boxes laden with food items. There are award winning quality Restaurants, Tea rooms, Pubs and Hotels, all with wonderful menus to suit all tastes and pockets.

Antique, interesting curios, painting and craft shops, along with fairs and auctions have made Lostwithiel the antique capital of Cornwall.

Lostwithiel Golf Club, a 10 min. walk away, offers a challenge for the accomplished player and yet is suitable for beginners, is overlooked by the 12th century Restormel Castle (English Heritage) and surrounded by beautiful countryside with the meandering Fowey River making its way through the town.

Walkers and hikers can make their way along ancient walk ways and lanes; follow the path between old farm buildings, across sheep fields to Lanhydrock House (National Trust) and Respryn Woods. Another favourite scenic river walk is to Lerryn stopping at St Winnow Church, taking in the superb views over the rippling river, the stillness and silence broken only by black headed gulls.

Across the medieval bridge, in town, is the Main Line Railway station, which is on the London-Penzance route. Why not explore Cornwall using the train which cuts across some outstanding farm and wooded land not seen from a car, which transports you to some of Cornwall's larger and popular resorts.

The town has a museum which has all the information on the medieval structures most notably the Church dedicated to St Bartholomew, the bridge, and part of the Great Hall. Many of the cottages were built around the 17th and 18th century, including Geranium Cottage, all stand proud creating interesting streets and lanes. The Church was in the centre of a battle during the Civil War. Bullet marks are visible on the sides of the Church.

Lostwithiel is a peaceful, friendly place, set in mid-Cornwall so making it an ideal base to set out from whether by car, train or coach.

John Betjeman is reputed to have said "There is a history in every stone in Lostwithiel"; this is evident to the observer who walks the lanes and streets of this historic borough.

The name 'Lostwithiel' comes from the two old Cornish words meaning 'the place at the tail end of the woodland', and looking down the valley from Restormel Castle, the home of the Norman Lords who built the town, one can see how it came by this name.

No children under the age of 12 allowed.
