Sonachan House is a large Victorian mansion set in approximately 5 acres of well tended grounds on the eastern shores of Loch Awe in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Portsonachan is the perfect choice for those who appreciate a more relaxed pace of life. The area itself is an excellent base for touring this beautiful part of Argyll.

The mansion has been tastefully divided into private holiday apartments, whilst 10 cedar lodges are situated throughout the grounds on the banks of the Loch. All the accommodation enjoys glorious views over the Loch to the hills beyond which are a pleasure to wake up to.

The attractive luxury lodges are excellently situated near to the water's edge with its small shingle beach (which is wonderful for children but care must be taken as the loch gets deep very quickly). The lodges are warm, welcoming and extremely comfortable.

Avich Apartment is set within Sonachan House, this self contained first floor apartment is bright and spacious with high ceilings and traditional features. All of the rooms are tastefully furnished to a high standard. The lounge and main bedroom offer glorious views across the grounds to Loch Awe

Loch Awe provides first class fishing which is free from the shore in front of the lodges. A slipway is available for boat owners. Guests are welcome to take their own boat or hire one locally.

There are many recreational amenities available within the area - boat fishing for trout and salmon (permits available locally), golf, walking, horse riding, cycling and bird watching are all popular. It is also an excellent base for exploring the West Highlands and its many gardens, castles and distilleries. Trips to picturesque Inveraray, Fort William and historic Glencoe are recommended. The town of Oban is just a 35 minute drive away and from there you can take a ferry to explore numerous islands.
