Drumlamford is a large private country estate of some 1500 acres and three private lochs (trout and coarse fishing) lying 12 miles north of the small market town of Newton Stewart on the River Cree and 8 miles south of Barrhill in the wooded uplands of The Galloway Forest Park.
Galloway is celebrated the world over for its serene and gracious countryside which rises from the sandy coves and mudflat estuaries (marvellous for bird-watching and sailing) of the Solway Firth to the rolling farmlands, high green hills and hidden lochs of The Galloway Forest Park so beloved by fishermen, walkers and cyclists - everyone who appreciates luminous landscapes and space.
Golfers can play many small country courses, with famous Turnberry some 20 miles up the coast. Artists will want to paint, visit Kirkcudbright and admire the lovely gardens and mansions. History buffs will be hard put to visit all the castles and sites (including the reputed cave of Robert The Bruce's famous spider) that remind us of this area's very bloody history. Motor-racing fans may want to visit David Coulthard's village of Tywnholm - and some may fancy a day-trip to Ireland on the Jetliner from Cairnryan.
Maberry Cottage is a lovely detached Victorian cottage - very comfortably furnished, well equipped and with central-heating - which is set on its own in a grass garden backed by trees, overlooking Loch Maberry where pike-fishing is available
Arnsheen Farmhouse is a beautifully appointed, very spacious detached farmhouse which stands all on its own enjoying spectacular views from its grounds over the surrounding hills of the Galloway Forest Park. A really lovely house, it is reached by a half mile of hard track from the quiet single-track B7027 public road, and it offers a comfortable and delightful retreat for one or two families who want peace and seclusion.
Red Cottage a lovely detached Victorian cottage, very well furnished and equipped, which stands in its own area of grass garden overlooking the landscaped grounds of Drumlamford House - which is visited only occasionally by the owners of Drumlamford Estate. About one mile into the Estate, it stands where fishermen can enjoy a quiet evening's fishing and the family relax in peace after a busy day.
Gower Cottage is a slightly larger detached traditional cottage set behind, and at the side, of Red Cottage in its own pretty grass garden not far from both Loch Dornal and Loch Gower. Again very well furnished and equipped, it is a favourite with many individual families, but has also been let jointly with Red Cottage for larger parties.
