Hannah would be amazed that her little house in Adderbury, North Oxfordshire, has been transformed into a comfortable, convenient and quiet haven that visitors return to again and again. This garden cottage was built in 2 phases - the stable and hayloft in 1830, then had a one bedroomed cottage added in 1860 for Hannah's Uncle Jack. We have made them into comfortable accommodation for 2.

The entrance hall leads into the kitchen/dining room with seating for 4. There are 2 more chairs upstairs so 6 people can enjoy a meal around the table (crockery and cutlery for 8). The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, an electric oven, microwave, fridge, and a dishwasher. The Beech worktop has an inlaid marble pastryboard, I don't think that it has been used yet, nor have the cake tins! The bathroom which is on the ground floor is completely new (Uncle Jack washed at a basin in the yard) and big enough for a big bath with shower over it. Also downstairs is a "laundry room" with a washer/dryer, ironing facilities and the central heating boiler making it a good airing space.

Upstairs, the hayloft is now a large lounge with sofa seating for 5, a small writing desk and chair, a coffee table and the usual entertainments (books, jigsaw puzzles, board games, CDs, videos and TV). The bedroom is big enough for a 5ft bed (we are told it is "great") and has an ensuite toilet.

Adderbury is a large ironstone village centred around its Church (included by Simon Jenkins in the Best 1000 Churches). Hannah's cottage is tucked into Back lane off the High Street and just round the corner from the village shop which sells newspapers, greengrocery, bread and meat. Next door is one of the 4 village pubs, they all serve food as does Le Restaurant Francais, and all are within 20 minutes walk of Hannah's cottage. There are thatched cottages around the village and many pleasant walks can be enjoyed "in the parish".

There is a Golf course, a Tennis and Squash Club, a Fishing lake and a nature reserve, all in Adderbury. The surrounding north Cotswold area is lovely and Oxford, Warwick, Stratford, Blenheim, Woodstock are all within half an hour's drive, as are many National Trust properties and gardens. Access to the M40 is easy so London and Birmingham by road and from Banbury Station by rail, are both convenient to visit. Adderbury is on the Banbury - Oxford bus route and there are many taxi firms in the area.
