Here is the latest issue of the BritainUpdate newsletter which you requested when you made a booking on AboutBritain.com.
In the third Britain Update from AboutBritain.com we introduce you to Scotland's second (and largest) city, Glasgow. Situated on the River Clyde on the west coast of Scotland, once famous as a great ship-building and industrial centre, today Glasgow is a "European City of Culture". An interesting place for a city break, whether you like to shop, sight-see, visit art galleries and museums or enjoy the theatre, you will find plenty going on in Glasgow.

There are many other styles of architecture in Glasgow, Hutcheson's Hall, one of the most elegant buildings in the city centre is well worth visiting. Or in complete contrast Tenement House, a first floor flat presenting a picture of domestic life in the early 20th century. With over 20 museums and art galleries in Glasgow, there is a vast choice for visitors to explore. One of the finest is the Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park, housed in a unique building especially designed for the collection. Nearby in the park is Pollok House, one of Scotland's finest Edwardian homes - a wonderful combination for a day out.
Many events and festivals are held in Glasgow; art lovers will have the chance to enjoy the Whistler Centenary this year. Glasgow is home to one of the finest collections of Whistler's work.
