Interactive Map of Lincoln
Lincoln is an ideal destination for a short break. Whether you prefer browsing the excellent range of independent shops, checking out the historic attractions, or just wandering around soaking up the atmosphere, you're sure to have a great time.
Lincoln has an open top bus for sightseers, and it's a good way to orientate yourself and get an overview of the city when you first arrive.
Lincoln Cathedral dominates the skyline - it's amazing to think that it was the tallest building in the world for nearly 250 years! It remains a wonderful example of Gothic architecture. You can take a tour of the cathedral - or for the more adventurous (and physically able) Roof Tours and Tower Tours are also available!
Lincoln Castle dates back to 1068, when it was built by William the Conquerer. There's lots to see inside, but the Heritage Skills Centre in the grounds is an unusual attraction, where you can try activities including stone carving, silversmithing and working with stained glass.
Zoom out on our Lincoln map at the top of the page, and you'll see that Lincoln is easily accessible from lots of places: It's only 150 miles from London (2 hours on the train), 70 miles south of York, and only 40 miles from Nottingham.
Lincoln has lots more to offer visitors - find out more on our main Lincoln page.[more...]
