Tudor House Hotel Map |
Established in 1540, the ancient Tudor House Hotel has a rich history.
A chimney in the Mayor's Parlour hides a priest's hole.
A secret garden is accessed by an old oak door, with axe marks said to be made by Oliver Cromwell's soldiers.
Tudor House also offers a full bar service with real ales, and the restaurant delivers fresh food at reasonable prices.
Free parking is available at the rear of the hotel (accessed via Red Lane, off the High Street). This historical building once housed the Court of Justice of King James I.
It has also been a Dissenter's college, and later still, the Mayor's house.
