Lamb And Lion Map |
In a unique location built into the medieval city walls, 100 metres from York Minster, the Lamb and Lion has cosy snug bars, a log fire, home-cooked food, free Wi-Fi and discounted local parking.
With 11 individually designed rooms, the Lamb and Lion is one of York’s finest old inns, with a good wine and beer selection.
The garden is licensed for alcoholic drinks and has a stunning view of York Minster. The inn stands at the original Porta Principalis (main gate) into Eboracum, a fort and city in Roman Britain, today known as York.
Fire ravaged the inn when the Earl of Manchester's men bombarded York in 1644.
Over a hundred years later, the Lamb and Lion was rebuilt by a wealthy butter merchant in 1756.
Today, the inn is one of the finest in this medieval city.
With dark corridors, staircases and little snugs everywhere, the Lamb and Lion perfectly recalls the atmosphere of a time gone by.
The inn offers good beer, good simple food, beautiful bedrooms and an unrivalled view of the Minster from the beer garden.
The Lamb and Lion is a member of Classic British Hotels.
