NEW FOR 2011 - Afghanistan Three Centuries of Conflict
Our new temporary exhibition explores why countries fought for influence over Afghanistan in the 19th and 20th centuries. You can discover how the Green Howards were involved as Britain fought to achieve control over trade routes, a secure border with British India and to check Russian influence.
Following the terrorist attacks on 11th September 2001 countries once again turned their attention to Afghanistan. Find out what the Green Howards and its successor Regiment, the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment (The Green Howards) have been doing in Afghanistan and what it is like to be part of this operation.
