Hi,

I am from the United States and will be visiting Edinburgh the second week of April. I am a descendant of Sir David Wilkie's brother--James. I would really like to visit
Cults Kirk and see the memorials to Sir David and his father. IHow far is it (by car) from Edinburgh City Center to Cults or Pitlessie? Is it possible to take a train or bus?

Thank you,
Gale

Hi Gale,

Our resident Scotsman Ian, would be the perfect person to answer this as he resides in Edinburgh. I will let him know there is a question for him.

Cheers,

Cults is a district on the south east of the Howe of Fife crossed by the A914. Pitlessie is the main village.. It is best known because of Sir David Wilklie's famous painting Pitlessie Fair (1804) now in the National Gallery of Scotland.

St Andrews is easy to get to & Cupar slightly harder {Its a small place} Pitlessie more so.
If you are staying in St Andrews it would be easier to get to.
You could hire a car in Edinburgh or St Andrews and drive there.
I'm sure you could get a bus from Edinburgh to Cupar which would have you close-by.
Train or bus from Edinburgh to St Andrews.
Then bus to Cupar, taxi to Pitlessie seems likely.

Hire a car and drive yourself is best.
You would be driving on small country roads most of the time.
Edinburgh>Forth Road Bridge>Fife>Cupar>Pitlassie and back in reverse.
Make a day of it or allow four hours all in.
I would take you but sorry I don't own a car don't need one.
