It is best known because of Sir David Wilklie's famous painting Pitlessie Fair (1804) now in the National Gallery of Scotland. If you are staying in St Andrews it would be easier to get to. You could hire a car in Edinburgh or St Andrews and drive there. I'm sure you could get a bus from Edinburgh to Cupar which would have you close-by. Train or bus from Edinburgh to St Andrews. Then bus to Cupar, taxi to Pitlessie seems likely. Hire a car and drive yourself is best. You would be driving on small country roads most of the time. Edinburgh>Forth Road Bridge>Fife>Cupar>Pitlassie and back in reverse. [:D] Make a day of it or allow four hours all in.[8D] I would take you but sorry I don't own a car don't need one.
