Guest -> LAKE DISTRICT (12 Feb. 2010 12:15:48 )

Hi everyone,

I will be going to the Lake District on holidays next month in March and was wondering if someone could recommend me good places to visit, like medieval castles, cathrdrals, charming villages, etc ... I will be in the South Lakes but i will hire a car so i can visit different places.

thank you,

Argggh, I'm going to get called a Troll now but I really was just passing because I want to ask a question. And I really am from the Lake District so I'll and help.

It depends on what you want to do. The Lake District is really quite small (for someone who has lived in Oz). I'd go to all the usual places like Ambleside and Coniston because it will be quiet at this time of year. But from there, weave your way through Torver, look for signs to take you to Ulverston, and through the back of Backbarrow (Thomas the Tank Engine), Lakeside, Finsthwaite and then on towards the back roads to the Lakes.
You'll happen along the most beautiful scenery and backwater to Windermere and then onto Rydal and Grasmere.

Have a lovely time!
