Ron Hann -> Christmas (is) Crackers. (29 Nov. 2009 7:10:25 )

Now that we are rapidly approaching December, we all know what happens in THAT month [yeah, the weather gets hot down here and cold up there].

Well, actually No, I was referring to the yearly ritual of Christmas Crackers, and mainly the 'funnies' that appear in them.

We went out to a dinner last night and I collected these ones [and I don't want to hear any audible groans as you read them, neither].

.................................................................................................................................

What do ghosts eat ??

Ghoulash.

[Incidentally, that answer was also applied to another question - What do you get when you burn a vampire ??]

.................................................................................................................................

What is virtually useless until it is broken ??

An egg.

.................................................................................................................................

Wha lays in a pram and wobbles ??

A jelly baby.

.................................................................................................................................

And they get worse.

What do you call a couple of thieves ??

A pair of knickers.

................................................................................................................................

And, I'm sure that there are many equally unbearable 'jokes' around your way, too.

I don't get the jelly baby one.[&:]

Shannon, a 'jelly baby' is a type of sweet. I'm guessing that maybe they aren't available in the States, which is why you didn't get the joke?

They're not, at least not in Kentucky but likely not anywhere so, likewise, that one sort of flew over my head as well. If you want us to be "up to date" on this sort of thing just have them insert an obscure reference in the next James Bond, Wallace and Gromit or Harry Potter movie! [;)]
