This week's background image is brilliant.

Fancy beig paid to play with Lego.......

I saw a video clip recently of what is claimed to be the World's largest model railway set-up [in Hamburg, I think]. Humungous.

And people get paid to operate it.......

If Lego land is open when I take my granddaughter in the spring, I thought I would take her if we run out of things that interest her. I am assuming that Ye Olde took the picture. I will have to question him about it, but why do I have trouble seeing him there

You're right Marie - Ye Olde didn't go to Legoland - it's one of Quenton's photos.
Its from our visit earlier in the year (hence the 150th anniversary banner on Big Ben) - we had a great time.

I can thoroughly recommend Legoland, but I'd try and make sure you visit out of English school holiday times. We've visited twice just before the main school holidays began and it was great - no queuing at all. I think it might be a different story during the school holidays...

When are you coming over? I can give you an idea of when the school holidays are next spring (with a bit of investigation on the Internet!) ...they vary from area to area of course, but the main ones would be for London/South East schools I guess.

Clare - I have not set the date for when we come over next spring. Actually, I am going to St Louis next week to plan the trip with Bailey. Her parents are willing to have her miss school for the trip. I promised to make it educational

so we are pretty open to dates. I know to stay away the week before and after Easter. Any info on school breaks would be helpful.

Emily is a bit younger than Bailey (10) but I don't think it's that big a difference. What did she like best on your recent trip to London? ( You promised a trip report........

). Naturally I want to make the trip special for her, aiming for places that would interest her the most.

Ok - I'll look up school holiday dates later. Also I'll ask Emily for a quick summary of her favourite bits of London!
Emily's fast approaching 7, so not such a big difference!

Yes, I know I promised a trip report - I wrote a bit of a diary at the time, it's just a question of finding the time to convert it into something worth publishing!!! Sorry....will try and get to that also!

Hi Marie

Here are the approximate school holiday dates for Spring 2010:

(Disclaimer: different areas have different dates but around the same time...these are the main dates that I found on the Internet)

Spring Half Term: Mon Feb 15th - Fri Feb 19th
Easter: Fri April 2nd - Fri April 16th
May Day: Monday May 3rd also possibly Tue May 4th
Summer Half Term: May 24th - 28th others have May 31st - June 4th

Don't forget to add on the weekends either end of each holiday...

Hope this helps...if anyone else knows any better please speak up!

Question: In the photograph, about halfway between the clock and the London Eye, is a patch of colour in amongst the trees.

Any ideas as to what that may be ??

Just wondering.....

I assume that the clock keep true time ??

It's a railway - high above the ground. You get a great view of the park from there, and it's one of the first things you can do when you go in. Great start to the day.

The Wallpaper of the Week is now showing a lovely summers day in Hadleigh in Suffolk...

Notice how the pictures are getting sunnier and warmer as the weather here gets colder!

My only problem with this pic is the driver doesn't seem to be looking where he is going

Yes, I know some one will say the trolly is on a track. But it is a beautiful picture. I would gladly take a ride to the top.

Right-click on it - then something like "Save as..." from the menu that pops up. (Exact wording will depend which browser you're using)
