Today is Marie's last day in England before she goes back tomorrow. We arranged yesterday that she would come over to us on the bus and I would pick her up at the bus stop which I did and brought her back home.

She didn't feel in any need of refreshment so we went straight out on our planned walk to Layer Marney. It was a nice day which made a very pleasant walk through the woods, where we saw lots of Wood Anemones in bloom, and across the fields where at one point we could hear a Skylark in the distance. Here is Marie in the middle of nowhere with Layer Marney Tower visible to her left on the horizon and that is where we are headed.

When we arrived we went into the little Tudor church where Marie made friends with one of the previous Lords Marney. Here she is with her new friend.

I have to say, though, that he didn't invite her in for tea. Perhaps that's just as well.

Now isn't that a sight for sore eyes? No, No, No, not Amanda and Marie - that lovely little Tudor doorway. Having had a good look around the church we went to have a look at Layer Marney Tower next to the church. It is open to the public on some days but unfortunately not today so we had to make do with outside views only. Here is Marie trying her best to look like the Lady of the Manor and doesn't she look the part? Me - I'm not saying anything.

We had a nice walk back home in time for lunch before setting off on Plan B.

After lunch we drove the few miles to Tollesbury for a little wander round. We were all feeling a bit worn out by this time and didn't want to go far but we did walk out across the marshes to the lightship in which Marie had expressed an interest. She apparently 'collects' lighthouses and thought that this was therefore appropriate.

We had a look at the marina and then went home for a cuppa. After that I drove Marie to the bus stop and saw her on the bus back to Colchester where she was going to prepare for her departure tomorrow. We had some great trips with Marie this week and we shall miss her.

Until next time.
