For myself, the best museum is outside of London...the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth. That is entirely due to the fact that- one...it is dedicated to my favorite English monarch, and two...a person can actually touch most of the exhibits. Feel free to add a favorite if it isn't already listed. Pop on in and give your reasons, too[:)]

My favorite in London is the National Gallery. I always pop in when I am in London, even if it just for an hour. I have never been to London Museum or the Imperial War

I loved the museum of London. I also enjoyed the V&A but it got to be too much after awhile. I mean how many glasses and pots can one look at after awhile? LOL

Shannon...7 miles of glassware doesn't spark your ever-lasting admiration??[;)] The V&A can sure be overwhelming, and even with using a 'road map', the challenge is daunting. Marie, my favorite gallery is the National Portrait Gallery. With you popping into the NG every trip to London, it's the MPG for me, at least for a few minutes.

Well, of course, my favourite one is not listed, but it would definitely have to be the National Railway Museum at York. There were also the Folk Museum at Coatbridge, Glasgow, and the Bo'ness Railway Museum near Edinburgh. Oh, yes, and the Transport one at Glasgow, as well.

As I have not been to any of the others, I had to vote for the Childhood Museum in Edinburgh. The first time I went was with my mum when it first opened. She recalled all her childhood with the various exhibits. I'm sure that my grandkids would be awestruck with the various reminders of my childhood, most of the games lost due to the computer! I usually had a wee round shoe polish tin for "peeferybeds" whilst others has the oblong tin of "golden Virgibia". Then I discovered the cheating- others rubbing wax on the underside of the "peever" so it could reach further up the bed and win. Sorry to go off subject, but we also had bools and if you had won a steelly ,you were the king of the castle until you lost it and so statedgy had to come into force when you played it. Then there was French cricket and "knivey". all games in my childhood, out in the open and normally in pouring rain. I never see any kids playing them now. However I think mums then had it easy. oot of bed, breakfast, a few pieces o jam and a bottle of free NHS diluted orange juice if you had a baby in the family, and Mum wouldsn't see you for hours. OOt playing in the suburbs or even venturing to the beach (and silverknowes or Cramond) and nae horror stories of phaediphiles. That was my childhood and probably should have been posted as a new thread [:$]

The Victoria and Albert Museum is great. I love going there. As a matter of fact I go there quite often. Definitely recommend it!
