maerydoll -> Our Royal Mail service now is rubbish (19 Feb. 2009 15:05:34 )

I ordered stuff from the Hibs shop online on the 8th February and got a confirmation email to say that it was despatched on the 9th by second class mail Recorded Delivery which needs a signature. Usually it arrives within 3 days but by Saturday I got in touch with the Hibs shop and they confirmed it had been sent out but tracking the RD they could tell me that 1)" sorry you were out" postcard hadn't been chewed by Mixu as RM hadn't yet tried to deliver it, but all the other parcels sent out at the same time had been delivered, even to London. The manager at the Hibs shop agreed to refund my postage and packing charge as the delay was unacceptable to him.

Yesterday, still no parcel and again phone the Hibs shop and explaining that one of the items was a Valentine present. He immediately said he would send out another of said item completely free of charge .

This morning I left the house at 10.50 and went to my local sorting office to kick ass. They couldn't find my parcel . After going shopping,I got home to find a "Sorry, you were out card" timed at 10.30. Who are they kidding!!

And now I have arranged for the parcel to be delivered to my local PO. Hopefully I can get the parcel within a few days, but keeping my fingers crossed[:D]

You are my kind of gal, Maerydoll!!!!!! [sm=bouncy.gif] If women ran the world, we wouldn't be in such a mess. However, you should have known that the moment you left to kick butt, that damn card would arrive. [;)]

I tend to use UPS because I have had trouble with the US Postal Service. Overall, they usually do a good job with letters and such but I have had similar problems with packages. They also charge for every extra now....stuff which used to be included in the overall price. I really miss the days when the word service wasn't a 4 letter word.
I don't even think younger people have a clue what it is!

Today I went to my local PO but the package hadn't arrived and so I went around the corner to the local pub waiting for the postman. When he did arrive, he hadn't got my parcel but suggested it might be on the 12.30 delivery/collectiom by the PO van to the PO. Dave went round around 13.00 but it wasn't on that delivery.
We went home and straight away I was kicking ass on the phone to the sorting office, when a knock was at the front door and it was my parcel. The lass at the local PO had told the delivery man that she had seen me heading for home over the flypass on my mobility scooter and he'd better to deliver it to my address, which he did.

The sad thing is, the main item was a polo shirt which is too wee. Ladies, I'm only 5'3 and only weigh 10 stones and never should be too large for a size 18 T shirt!![X(][X(]

Greetings Maerydoll. I have been over here in the USA for so long now that I had to do a quick head scratch to remember what a "stone" weight is. (that's 14lbs my US friends) But the size 18 means nothing to any of us guys I am thinking, that's a big collar,or a heck of a big shoe, but a wee waist lassy!

Pete

Size 18 is for a 42inch bust (108 cm). I'm certainly not that well endowed but I like my clothes loosely fitting and thats why I ordered it . It was like a straight jacket on me.

This issue of Clothing Sizes appears to depend largely upon the Country of Origin of the goods.

One of our sons, and his wife, went to China last year and, while they were there, bought some various items of clothing.

When they got back, they showed us what they had bought. One of the items, a blouse (or something similar) for her, which fitted her comfortably, was marked XXXXXL, or something like that. I know that she could be called 'big' but only in height terms, otherwise she is quite trim.

I'm afraid that I would be rather reluctant to purchase clothing from any overseas source without having first got some sort of confirmation of the actual physical dimensions of the item.

We notice something similar with footwear in our shops. The sizing can be totally different when labelled for the Australian/New Zealand market, compared with the same item labelled for the U.K. or the U.S. markets.

Crazy.
