I saw that you posted that you officially retired on another thread and felt you deserved a thread solely for congratulations!

Have a wonderful retirement and maybe you'll have loads of extra time to visit the UK.

Congratulations again,

'congratulations on retiring Merry, for now your work is done,
after all your contributions to society
you can now go and relax happily in the sun.

Think of nothing and do not plan
Let your senses and weary body unwind
Drink champagne, eat far too much,
Chill out in style and numb your mind.

Then think to days of uninterrupted slumber
Of how you can stay in bed
Read all those books you never finished
And remember those you never read.

Of artists courses and unsampled wine
Passing friends and unmet chances
How time went so quickly
And you never accepted all those dances.

How work took your best opportunities
To have fun and be your best
Now life gives you a second chance
To live again and in your life, reinvest.

Do not see this time as an ending
but a beginning of great things ahead
For before this you were too busy
Life was just work and then bed.

But now you have so much at your feet
All those unfulfilled dreams
That's what retirement gives you
A chance to find out what life means.

Enjoy your retirement Merry!

I goofed - sent a report instead of a reply, so here goes again.
My congratulations also. I retired almost 7 years ago and have done nothing but enjoy myself. Lots of travel, time with the grandkids etc. etc. Off to Australia in August, Cuba in November, Enjoy your time at hom

Thanks so much for all of your good wishes. Bill hasn't retired yet, we can't afford for him to retire now with my income gone. He'll probably work another 10 years. Of course, in the spring and summer when the weather is sunny and warm, you can find him on the golf course instead of at the office. So part of the year he is semi-retired

Welcome to this wonderful way of living, Merry

Having the time to do what you want, when you want, and for however long you want is marvelous. I enjoy each day, knowing that if all I want to do is sit and read, that's all that's needed. Would like to travel more...GB is calling me like a banshee ( ), but I am never bored.

You have begun to live!!!
