Hi EDBH, I think there are quite a few self caterings that open over Christmas, but as Marie says, they're dearer then because it's a very popular time (though much of the rest of December can be quite cheap). Peak booking time for Self Catering is January, so it might be getting tricky to find availability in the most popular places at this time of year - but I'm sure there's still some availability out there. We're scaling up the self catering section as fast as we can - we're adding lots of new properties every week to increase the choice. Right now we have 705 Self Catering properties and 1,300 B&Bs. Snag is we send them so many bookings, that sometimes they get booked up quite quickly. Yes - we do have a couple of hundred campsites too - and the ones that are open in December will probably have availability... You'll just need a very warm tent For cottages you could try one of the big agency websites - as they can provide an availability search where you enter your dates and destination, and it'll return only the properties with availability.
