It's that time again...

AboutBritain.com has continued to grow and grow - and the time has come to move to a bigger, faster and more powerful server - to make sure you continue to get the performance and reliability you expect!

We've been working very hard (especially Ewen) to get the new box set up and tested - and everything's looking good.

Currently we're expecting to do the changeover tomorrow night (actually starting around 2am Thursday - UK time to minimise disruption).

Thanks to the very talented people at our web hosting company, we expect to be able to make the switch without any downtime at all - which will be fantastic.

Just to make sure no posts are lost from the forums though - I'll close the forum to new posts just before the change, and open it up again once the move is complete. I expect that will only be a few minutes - so probably you won't even notice.

If there's any change of plan, I'll post it here.

On present indications, my site will be unattended from Wednesday, 15th., October, 2008, to Sunday, 19th., October, 2008, both dates being inclusive. Any e-mails received within that time frame may be deleted unread.

That's the swap to the new server complete.

Initial testing indicates that everything seems to have gone well - with the site up and running normally on the new box.

If you find something that doesn't work - let me know!
