AngloSaxon -> Worcester - a picture of the cathedral & city (13 Nov. 2004 14:00:02 )

See how the Cathedral dominates the city, we don't have skyscrapers and tall buildings. The view never seems to change, of course the buildings surrounding the cathedral have changed over time but the Cathedral is a reassuring site for local people for some distance away from the city.

As Hudson says use keys A and Z to move around. If you look down the page you can click and download 360 degree images of Worcester cathedral and Malvern. It is a pretty area and a lot of it is protected.

No I don't want to leave!

Rosie has been to Worcester and seen the Cathedral (Prince John's tomb)and the china works nearby.

Worcester is wonderful, that's for sure! I think I've spent all of three hours in the town (and most of that in the cathedral) while the seconds shop for the china works is definitely worth a browse. What made this town such a delight for me was not knowing there was a cathedral until the coach was pulling into the china factory. I skedaddled out of the guided tour to roam the place of worship and stumbled upon two other surprises...Arthur and John. [:D] Would I do Worcester again? In a heartbeat!! Anglo...if I come back would you meet me for lunch???? No skippin' around the meeting, Sir Duke. You and I have GOT to meet head-on at some point in this lifetime [sm=propeller.gif]

Of course I would and show you around, whilst Worcester suffered from the town planners in the 50s and 60s who thought everything pre-war should be knocked down we do have a few places for tourists.

You obviously didnt have time to visit our 'Commandry' and 'Greyfriars' during your 3 hours. Friar Street is the oldest part of the city and is so named because of links with monks who lived there in medieval times. If you can open the link, click on 'Elgar' whre it says Worcester Tourism and you can see what there is to see.

Ah-ha. Now I know why Sir Edward Elgar was such a Big Note in English classical music, apart from from the fact that he wrote some great stuff.

Shuffle the letters of his surname around and - voila, Lager. Great stuff, nice one.[p][p]
