Clare -> Which is your favourite British town? (24 Aug. 2004 21:53:49 )

Which town have you enjoyed visiting the most?

If there's something you want to say about the way you voted, you can add a comment to the poll by replying to this message...

e.g. I voted for xxx town because I had a wonderful day there - well worth a visit.
or I wouldn't vote for yyy town in a month of Sundays, as there are no facilities there.....

Cheers
Clare

Never get enough of London town

Guest -> RE: Which is your favourite British town? (25 Aug. 2004 13:01:53 )

Is this a trick question cos none of those listed are towns...they are cities.

Anyway my most favourite town is not listed - Worcester (yes I know a city as well). Its a saucy town with a decent choice of pubs with good beer.

How to answer . . hmmm. If the answer is the town I wish I had more time in it would be York. WE had one full day and I left thinking I have to come back some day. If it is a town I would like to live in then Maybe Stamford. If I am thinking of which town was I glad I saw at least once before I died then London.

London...hands down! I may be living in the country now but I will always be a city girl at heart! [;)]

Tudor Rose -> RE: Which is your favourite British town? (1 Sep. 2004 17:55:58 )

I'm with Shannon. For me, British history is just packed into that city and all the places where The Tudors ran around are so easy to get to...some just a short walk away. Edinburgh comes in a very close second, though...especially The Royal Mile.

Ron Hann -> RE: Which is your favourite British town? (4 Sep. 2004 5:27:29 )

Just plonk me down in any of them. If I don't like that one, then there will be another one not far away. Well, perhaps not up in the Highlands but, then, no doubt Ian or maerydoll will find me and point me in the right direction.[:$][:$]

Inverness Aberdeen Oban
The Highlands to get away from citys.

Perth too is worth going to.

The Islands down the west coast are wonderful, beaches all to yourself. [just don't look for sunshine that's extra]

Burns lovers should checkout Ayr & Dumfres.

Klasse statt Masse.

I know just about enough German to see that last posting was a site for lonely-hearts !

Don't think anybody here is in that state !

Anyway...back to the poll...

As Ian said:......

There was a lot of nice towns/cities that were not included in the poll !

If I had to pick one of them I would say YORK ! ( and it seems that York is running a close second to London "town" ). No fair, as London is the Capital !

My unrestricted choice would have to be Aberdeen, ( The Granite City ), too if I really had to state a preference !

Shannon -> RE: Which is your favourite Online Single Agency? (23 Dec. 2004 11:09:35 )

This is an exact translation from our German friend: Why???? I don't know, weird!

Class instead of mass. The serious and exclusive Online partner agency "man and woman. net" offers to find demanding Singles the best chances the dear of your life. Disappointments with bierbäuchigen slipper heros excluded
...ummm, what was that last part?

Papaumau -> RE: Which is your favourite Online Single Agency? (26 Dec. 2004 9:20:58 )

Yeah Shannon.....

Those internet translation machines can come up with some hilarious translations !

With my poor German "that last part" is trying to say something like....The ones with beer-bellys that are also couch-potatoes have NO CHANCE ! [:'(] [:D]

ARRIVING By TRAIN into Edinburgh from the west the train passes under Edinburgh Castle. From the east Hollyrood Park on the left and Calton Hill on the right, on leaving Waverly Station look up at the Castle. If walking up Waverly Steps look over your left shoulder and admire the wonderful view. Edinburgh Castle above Princes Street Gardens with the Scott Monument reaching for the sky.
Its surely one of the best arrivals anywhere.

Vancouver and Hong Kong from the air is wonderful. {Hong Kong's old airport]
Sidney from the air or arriving by sea would be cool.

Ferry from Europe to Roysth up the Firth Of Forth on a sunny day would be good too, to reach Edinburgh/Scotland. Cuts down on the driving.

AngloSaxon -> RE: Which is your favourite British town? (28 Dec. 2004 4:24:03 )

If the choice was unrestricted I would plump for Worcester, there has been a town on the site since Roman times and it used to be a major crossing place of the River Severn into Wales.

It has a beautiful Cathedral right on the eastern banks of the River Severn right opposite the Worcestershire cricket ground which is on the western side. King John's bones reside here. It has the Worcester Porcelein factory which is world famous. It has the Commandery which was originally built at the time of the Norman invasion of our shores, and it is the site of the last major battle in the civil war.

Best of all its my local town.....it has some really decent pubs and the beer is cheaper than other places like Bath, London etc.

Gloria -> RE: Which is your favourite British town? (2 Feb. 2005 7:46:14 )

Never been in any of those towns (cities) personally, but got lots of pictures and articles from news and magazines. So I chose London.

sakura_lass -> RE: Which is your favourite British town? (24 Feb. 2005 2:45:24 )

I chose London, since it was very nice to visit and it was huge.

However, I was rather dissapointed that you didn't put Liverpool in there. Liverpool was the BEST British Town I've ever been too. It was absolutely fantastic. I think London is #2 on my Favourite English Towns list, after Liverpool of course. [:D]

allytheone -> RE: Which is your favourite British town? (17 Apr. 2005 17:25:11 )

srobka -> RE: Which is your favourite British town? (12 Sep. 2005 18:10:35 )

Hi,
I Think You have many interesting towns. In my country we have only 3 beautiful and famous cities: Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw (my favourite).
But my favourite things in Your country are castles.
Cheers
Kasia
