Hi,
Regrettably I've never been to UK. But I chose London. Because.

P.S. Sorry for my poor English if it troubling you.

PP.S. Has anyone of you been to Russia? (Sorry for off-topic)

PP.SS. Is there forum special for off-topic?

Thank you

Welcome to the forum Sh.E.V.
I have never been to Russia, although, I would love to go one day. The problem is, too many places and not enough time or money.
We love new members on this forum. Many of us have been posting for years and some of us have even had the pleasure of meeting.
Off topics posts are welcome, too, Just use OT in your subject heading and everyone will know that it is off topic and can choose to read it or not.

Yes welcome to the AboutBritain Forums Sh.E.V.

Off topic posts are fine in the "General Chat" section of the forums - as Merry Traveler says, with OT in the subject.

I was born and bred in South London (have recently moved to surrey) so I will always have a soft spot for London but Oxford is very lovely and Chichester is so cute.

Bath is amazing and possibly one of the best cities in the UK. Bristol is really good as well.

Parts of London are fantastic a lot of it is very poor. Cheltenham is lovely too

London sucks, too many people, too many cars, too much rubbish in the streets, the road signs are confusing. Maybe a nice place to visit, but not to work.

Agreed, London really can suck. But it has so much more that other places in the UK don't, that it can't be missed. It'd be like going to France and never seeing Paris.

I loved Chester on my visit a few years ago.

I would love to visit York but as Dave is unemployed at the moment, I cannot see that happening in the very near future. My other place to travel would be the Scottish Highlands. One Sunday, I went with Dave on a work day there and the scenery was out of this world.Up to Inverness , over to Ullipool and 30 miles nw on single track roads to a wee village on the Atlantic coast. Left Livi at 04.00 and got back at 23.00. We must make time to do the same journey over at least 7 days.

Well now I have so many....but as York was one of my favourites it got my vote today.
I think any Town or City you must research first, then visit maybe for a day, then next time book into a B and B and stay for a few days, that way you can explore all the touristy places and beyond the winding lanes.

But my most special memory was to walk into York Minister for the first time......truly breathtaking......my heart is racing as I recall our last visit....to sit as we did in silence, not an empty seat in sight....and to listen to the choir singing.....as light cascaded through the windows.....ahh!! pure gold........cheers Katie

Durham City my 2nd choice and London City 3rd.

Just adding a few more of my favs, Coventry with its amazing Cathedral........Newcastle for history, heritage and art/music venues and a great riverside......And for any visitors who venture up to the North East you must take time out and get over to Holy Island Lindisfarne, just off the Northumberland coast......truly brilliant, and a perfect place to capture some extra special photo memories.........cheers Katie
