An ideal place for the whole family to visit for a fantastic day out on Royal Deeside. The castle, with its fairytale turrets, is a superb example of a 16th-century tower house, but is equally renowned for its interior - some of the rooms retain their original painted ceilings. It was home to the Burnett family of Leys for four centuries and the castle walls hold many family stories and secrets.

The Garden

Crathes boasts an award-winning 19th-century walled garden - worthy of a visit in itself. Eight colourful gardens were created within it and are open to visitors all year round.

The Old Horsemill has been converted into an attractive book and coffee shop where you can relax in perfect surroundings. There is also a shop offering an exclusive range of gifts and souvenirs. Six exciting woodland walks and an adventure playground offer interest for visitors of all ages.
